Out in open countryside between Stockton and Sedgefield, Stillington is a village where roofs take the full force of the weather. We work as roofers in Stillington and the surrounding TS21 villages, carrying out roofing repairs, re-roofs, flat roof replacements and fascia and soffit renewals. We sort out loose ridge tiles, leaking chimney flashings, worn valleys and sagging gutters. From cottages near the centre to newer houses on the edge of the village, we give every roof the same thorough attention.
We are a family run company and have fitted more than 600 new roofs. Our team uses high quality materials suited to each property, whether that is Welsh slate, clay pantiles or EPDM rubber on a garage roof. Every quote is free and comes with no obligation. All work is fully guaranteed, we hold full public liability insurance and we take credit card payments for convenience.

Often visible from the street after high winds. Each gap lets rain reach the felt and battens.
Bubbled wallpaper, peeling paint or brown rings upstairs usually mean water is already getting in.
Ridge, hip and verge mortar breaks down with frost, leaving tiles that can lift in the next storm.
Moss, grit and debris in the gutters send water back under the roof edge and down the walls.
If you can see light through the roof from the loft, rain and cold air can get through too.
Standing water, blisters or splits on a felt flat roof are a sign the covering is near the end of its life.
Stillington grew up as an industrial village around ironworking and the railway, so its older streets are lined with plain brick terraces and cottages, many with slate roofs and tall chimney stacks. These roofs are now a good age, and we regularly see slipped slates, perished mortar on ridges and flashing that has pulled away from chimneys. Alongside them are newer houses with concrete interlocking tiles, where problems tend to be blocked valleys, loose verges and failing dry ridge systems. Stillington sits on flat, open farmland with little shelter, so strong westerly winds and driving rain find any weak spot quickly. Flat roofs on extensions and garages also suffer here, as ponding water and frost break down older felt.
The importance of repairing minor roof damage is easy to underestimate. A small leak and the damp patch it leaves can grow into a problem that weakens the structure of your Stillington home and leads to a much bigger repair bill.
We are often working in Stillington and the nearby villages of Redmarshall and Bishopton, so we know the local properties well.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.

Not usually. Most leaks come from a loose, cracked or slipped tile or slate, failed flashing or a tired valley, and can be repaired on their own. A full re-roof is only needed when the roof system as a whole has failed or the roof is no longer safe. We will tell you honestly which applies to your Stillington home.
Get them replaced as soon as possible, before rain reaches the felt and timbers underneath. Replacing tiles safely is a skilled job, so please do not climb up yourself. Contact your local Stillington team and we will match the tile, fix it properly and check the surrounding roof while we are there.
It depends on the extent of the damage, the age of the roof and the materials it is made from. We survey the roof, show you what we find and explain the options. Where a repair is the sensible choice we will repair it. Sometimes a full replacement is the only lasting solution, and we will explain why.
Leaks are often the first sign. Check your Stillington roof and gutters twice a year for cracked, slipped or missing tiles, loose ridge tiles and a build-up of grit in the gutters. Indoors, look for damp patches, bubbled or peeling wallpaper, cracked paint or stained plasterboard. The longer a problem is left, the more it costs to put right.
Only in very exceptional circumstances, such as a roof that is structurally unsafe. In almost every case you can stay in your Stillington home while we work.
In Stillington, the cost of a new roof depends on the roof size, the covering you choose and the condition of the timbers and chimneys underneath. Older terraces with slate and stacks need more careful work than a modern estate house with concrete tiles. As a guide, re-roofing a typical semi-detached property with clay tiles could cost anything between £3,500 and £5,500. We begin with a free site survey and then provide a fixed written quote. Call 01740 472502 to arrange a visit.
