Redmarshall may be one of the smallest villages west of Stockton, but its homes need the same quality as anywhere else. We are trusted roofers in Redmarshall and the surrounding villages, providing roofing repairs, re-roofs, flat roofs, chimney work and fascias. Many properties here are older brick cottages and farm buildings alongside newer detached homes, and we are comfortable working on all of them. Redmarshall TS21 is a short drive for our team, so getting out for a survey is easy.
We use clay pantiles and natural slate to suit traditional buildings, and quality concrete or clay tiles on newer homes, always over a breathable membrane. We are family run, carry full public liability insurance and are listed on MyBuilder and Checkatrade. With over 600 new roofs installed, we can give honest advice on whether repair or replacement is better, and every job is fully guaranteed.

Slate has a very long life because it shrugs off UV and water and is rarely affected by changes in climate. Individual slates that crack, slip or break can be replaced quickly and cheaply.

Often visible from the street after high winds. Each gap lets rain reach the felt and battens.
Bubbled wallpaper, peeling paint or brown rings upstairs usually mean water is already getting in.
Ridge, hip and verge mortar breaks down with frost, leaving tiles that can lift in the next storm.
Moss, grit and debris in the gutters send water back under the roof edge and down the walls.
If you can see light through the roof from the loft, rain and cold air can get through too.
Standing water, blisters or splits on a felt flat roof are a sign the covering is near the end of its life.
Redmarshall is a small farming village surrounded by open fields, with its old church at the heart of a scattering of cottages, farmhouses and later houses. Older buildings here are typically brick with clay pantile or slate roofs, while newer homes on the edge of the village carry modern concrete tiles. The flat, open land between Stockton and Sedgefield gives little shelter, so wind gets under loose pantiles and lifts ridges. On older properties the mortar at verges and ridges erodes, timbers sag and valleys fail. Farm buildings and stables often have sheet roofs with failing fixings and roof lights. Around the church and the older houses in Redmarshall we match pantile profiles and colours so that repairs look right.
The importance of repairing minor roof damage is easy to underestimate. A small leak and the damp patch it leaves can grow into a problem that weakens the structure of your Redmarshall home and leads to a much bigger repair bill.
We regularly take on roofing work in and around Redmarshall, as well as in neighbouring Stillington and Bishopton.

Not usually. Most leaks come from a loose, cracked or slipped tile or slate, failed flashing or a tired valley, and can be repaired on their own. A full re-roof is only needed when the roof system as a whole has failed or the roof is no longer safe. We will tell you honestly which applies to your Redmarshall home.
Get them replaced as soon as possible, before rain reaches the felt and timbers underneath. Replacing tiles safely is a skilled job, so please do not climb up yourself. Contact your local Redmarshall team and we will match the tile, fix it properly and check the surrounding roof while we are there.
It depends on the extent of the damage, the age of the roof and the materials it is made from. We survey the roof, show you what we find and explain the options. Where a repair is the sensible choice we will repair it. Sometimes a full replacement is the only lasting solution, and we will explain why.
Leaks are often the first sign. Check your Redmarshall roof and gutters twice a year for cracked, slipped or missing tiles, loose ridge tiles and a build-up of grit in the gutters. Indoors, look for damp patches, bubbled or peeling wallpaper, cracked paint or stained plasterboard. The longer a problem is left, the more it costs to put right.
Only in very exceptional circumstances, such as a roof that is structurally unsafe. In almost every case you can stay in your Redmarshall home while we work.
Cost in Redmarshall depends on the building and its materials. Re-roofing an old cottage in reclaimed pantiles involves more work than tiling a modern house, and barns or outbuildings may need structural repairs. On a standard house, re-roofing a typical semi-detached property with clay tiles could cost anything between £3,500 and £5,500.
