Across the town, Done Right Roofing Services Ltd are the roofers in Newton Aycliffe that families and businesses call when a roof needs proper attention. Our roofing crews handle repairs, full replacements, flat roofs and fascias across every part of the town, from Woodham to Byerley Park. Because Newton Aycliffe DL5 grew quickly after the war, many homes have reached the end of their first roof at much the same time, and we have the experience to deal with that efficiently and at a fair price.
On houses we tend to fit modern concrete or clay tiles over a breathable membrane, with dry fix ridges that will not need repointing every few years. For commercial clients we install GRP and rubber systems suited to large, low pitched roofs. With over 15 years of installing roofs, CHAS accreditation and full public liability insurance, we are well placed for both. Quotes are free and carry no obligation.
Our experienced, fully licensed roofers can provide a range of roofing services including:

Slate has a very long life because it shrugs off UV and water and is rarely affected by changes in climate. Individual slates that crack, slip or break can be replaced quickly and cheaply.

Often visible from the street after high winds. Each gap lets rain reach the felt and battens.
Bubbled wallpaper, peeling paint or brown rings upstairs usually mean water is already getting in.
Ridge, hip and verge mortar breaks down with frost, leaving tiles that can lift in the next storm.
Moss, grit and debris in the gutters send water back under the roof edge and down the walls.
If you can see light through the roof from the loft, rain and cold air can get through too.
Standing water, blisters or splits on a felt flat roof are a sign the covering is near the end of its life.
Newton Aycliffe was designated a new town in 1947, and most of its housing went up over the following decades in planned neighbourhoods such as Woodham and Byerley Park. That gives the town a great many brick terraces and semis with shallow pitched concrete tile roofs, plus flat roofed porches, garages and stores. Low pitches and ageing felt are a poor combination: wind driven rain gets under the tiles and the old underlay can no longer hold it back. Former council homes often have tired timber fascias and soffits, and many original flat roofs are well past their lifespan. On Aycliffe Business Park, older industrial units suffer from corroded fixings and failed roof light seals, which we can repair or overclad.
The importance of repairing minor roof damage is easy to underestimate. A small leak and the damp patch it leaves can grow into a problem that weakens the structure of your Newton Aycliffe home and leads to a much bigger repair bill.
We work in and around Newton Aycliffe all year round, with plenty of jobs in Shildon and the older streets of Aycliffe Village too.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.

Not usually. Most leaks come from a loose, cracked or slipped tile or slate, failed flashing or a tired valley, and can be repaired on their own. A full re-roof is only needed when the roof system as a whole has failed or the roof is no longer safe. We will tell you honestly which applies to your Newton Aycliffe home.
Get them replaced as soon as possible, before rain reaches the felt and timbers underneath. Replacing tiles safely is a skilled job, so please do not climb up yourself. Contact your local Newton Aycliffe team and we will match the tile, fix it properly and check the surrounding roof while we are there.
It depends on the extent of the damage, the age of the roof and the materials it is made from. We survey the roof, show you what we find and explain the options. Where a repair is the sensible choice we will repair it. Sometimes a full replacement is the only lasting solution, and we will explain why.
Leaks are often the first sign. Check your Newton Aycliffe roof and gutters twice a year for cracked, slipped or missing tiles, loose ridge tiles and a build-up of grit in the gutters. Indoors, look for damp patches, bubbled or peeling wallpaper, cracked paint or stained plasterboard. The longer a problem is left, the more it costs to put right.
Only in very exceptional circumstances, such as a roof that is structurally unsafe. In almost every case you can stay in your Newton Aycliffe home while we work.
In Newton Aycliffe the cost usually comes down to whether the old roof needs new battens and underlay as well as tiles, and whether flat roof sections or fascias are included. Mid terraces often come in cheaper than end houses. Based on our own pricing, re-roofing a typical semi-detached property with clay tiles could cost anything between £3,500 and £5,500. We always start with a free site survey and a fixed written quote, so call 01325 589104 when you are ready.
